Middle Tennessee Medical Center has been serving the health care needs of Middle Tennesseans for over 80 years. Today, our Murfreesboro-based, 286-bed, nonprofit hospital offers a comprehensive array of services to more than 105,000 patients annually.
The MTMC Foundation was established in 1984 as a not-for-profit corporation to support the mission of the hospital. The Foundation's primary work is to promote community awareness of the quality and value of medical services provided by MTMC, and to raise and manage philanthropic gifts to further the hospital's healing ministry. In its first 20 years of operation, the Foundation provided more than $1,000,000 in grants to help Middle Tennessee Medical Center and its patients.
In 2001, MTMC became a member of Saint Thomas Health, a hospital system owned by Ascension Health, the largest catholic healthcare system in the nation. The MTMC Foundation continues to raise money solely for the needs of MTMC and is governed by a Board of community leaders, who provide stewardship for the funds and oversight for their expenditure.
Today some 1,400 donors support MTMC by contributing generously to the MTMC Foundation. In Fiscal Year 2010, the Foundation raised a record total of over $6.8 million. Funds are raised through annual giving, planned giving, associate giving campaigns and special events, such as the MTMC Foundation Wellness Golf Classic. Contributions to the Foundation support direct care of the poor, education, research, new equipment and facilities.
